|
|
| Hi, does anyone know what the round cutout is for between the two 6x9 speakers on the rear deck? It looks like it's drilled to mount something. It's out of the way of the rear break light. Is that for a center channel speaker? Thanks. |

there is no factory option on any Fusion model that uses that opening. the rear deck / package shelf is probably a generic part that is used on multiple vehicles.
the Milan is almost the same car as the Fusion, audio options are the same. the MKZ has different audio packages than the Fusion & Milan so perhaps its used in the MKZ's THX system?

I did a little 'googling' and it would appear that both of our guesses were correct. the opening is for a 4" center channel speaker, and it is part of the Lincoln MKZ'z THX-II audio system. (click the link and scroll down to see the MKZ THX-II specs)

| Ok, I figured out how to upload the photos, got 7 of them with some background info. For those of you debating on keeping your stock ford radio or putting in Aftermarket, all I can tell you is after I programmed the Kenwood unit and burned some music videos in DIVX format to a dvd, I sat in that car for 2 hours watching, listening and tweaking the sound, and I would NEVER put the stock unit back in. I want to KICK it to the curb, lol. I just got done putting in the subwoofer amp (SONY) in the trunk and next comes a custom fiberglass and wood sub cabinet that I will make as soon as it warms up outside. I will post more photos when I start mounting everything, Right now its a mess on the trunk floor. Hope these photos help those of you who are undecided. Dont think you'll do this in 1 day. Took me 2 weeks to get this far, with work, housework, ordering speakers, adaptors, going to the autoparts store for wire, connectors, etc. |

| I never had sync to begin with. Anyway, if your cellphone has sms, this Kenwood unit with your cellphone does voice dialing. I can say out loud, "Call Mom" and it will dial and call.... I would never want a stock stereo after hearing and using this kenwood unit. |

| Check out the photos in this thread. I just uploaded 3 new photos. I had to make spacers to mount the Sony 6x9 speakers in the deck. Their frame was bigger than the ford cutouts, so I had to raise them 1/4 inch. Another photo shows the 2 amps mounted to the board that stretches across the back seats, (I dont like to drill holes into stock panels.). Last new photo shows a homemade subwoofer box with a Sony 10" sub that fits perfectly on the right side of the trunk. It kicks out ALOT of bass. I just need to order some automotive carpeting and blend everything into the trunk.... It sounds sooooooo good, I can sit in the car for hours listening to the stereo... |
